About Me!

Hi Guys! My name is Alex, and welcome to my little owl blog.

Heres a picture of me not covered in mud!

So a bit of background information about me is that I am a 26 year old girl from the north of England. I have always LOVED being outdoors and anything involving any form of animal! I was the kid on the school trip that would be queueing to hold an owl rather than queueing for the biggest roller coaster. Growing up I always had an abundance of pets and our yearly family holidays were to the highlands of Scotland where we spent weeks essentially constantly outdoors. My dad has always been just the same, and I have very much followed in his love for the natural world!

I decided to start this blog after my love for owls kept on growing the more and more I learnt about these incredible creatures. After I graduated university with a degree in Philosophy and Sociology I knew I had to go and work in my natural habitat (outdoors) for a while before applying for a job in the real world. So i moved as far down south as i could to a little town called Swanage in Dorset and took up a 6 month volunteer position as a park ranger at Durlston Country Park and it was some of the best few months I have ever had. I spent so much time learning about British wildlife and fell in love with every little creature I learnt about while I was there. I will insert some images below of my time there.

Me & Hamish!
The ranger team wet through after a long day clearing an old waterfall!
Me and the incredible Dry Stone Wall group!
I really did love these cows. Even though they were a nightmare at escaping on the daily!

I have always dreamt of working with animals eventually but I somehow ended up working in an office doing financey stuff? strange how life works out right? Regardless, my free time is always spent seeing as much wildlife as I can and now it will be put into building this blog from the ground up. I just enjoy educating anybody who is interested on how cool our owls truly are!

I really hope you enjoy the articles I produce and that they convince you to keep stopping by 🙂

Thanks for reading,

Alex
